Human Experience and the Energy Loop

The satisfactory experience of human life on earth relies on a fine balance of essential factors including sound sanitation, the supply of food, medicine, art and construction material, fuel such as fire wood, alcohol or ethanol, plus water, oxygen, shade and perhaps most importantly a spiritual connection to the universe. These are all musts for human culture whose ultimate form will be a reflection of how well it deals with obtaining these. Interestingly, all these factors have one denominator in common- Fertile earth. The fact that the focus of mainstream policy still largely ignores the value of fertile earth makes me and others who appreciate its importance rather marginal souls, but things are changing, and faster than one might to think. We all possess the raw materials to make our small corner of the earth more fertile through a simple composting regimen.

Once I realized how simple and effective composting can be, I became totally fascinated by it it has enriched every aspect of my life. Now I am fully convinced that sound composting must be a mainstream focus of society. Every ecosystem on Earth produces and depends on earth and grows in a way as to protect it. Put simply, everything needed for composting and plant growth is already in place and the entire biosphere will do the hard work.

When I compost I have the biosphere and time working for me! Each time I complete the loop of energy flowing through my household by depositing it in the compost pile as opposed to discarding it, my economy expands incrementally. The energy invested in collecting the things from which I make compost will be of use to me over and over and over again.

In future blogs, I will discuss how composting works, its benefits and provide some simple ideas on how to complete your own energy loop through recycling the organic waste your household produces.
